Dr. Martin Traynor

Dr. Martin Traynor has been providing exceptional eye care for more than 40 years, combining extensive clinical experience with a passion for innovation, specialty contact lenses, and premium eyewear.

Originally from Scotland, Dr. Traynor graduated from the Optometry program at Caledonian University in Glasgow in 1982. He began his career working alongside surgical specialists at Bangour Hospital and as an associate with an established optometry group in Edinburgh.

Just over a year later, he opened his first practice in Glasgow's east end, eventually expanding to three locations, including the city's first luxury eyewear boutique. To ensure the highest standards of quality and service, he also established an in-house optical surfacing and edging laboratory. Throughout this time, he continued his work with the Hospital Eye Service, further developing his clinical expertise.

In 1992, Dr. Traynor relocated to Canada with his family and completed the accelerated Optometry program at the University of Waterloo, graduating in 1994. While at Waterloo, he also taught in the university's Low Vision Clinic, helping educate future optometrists while expanding his expertise in the field.

Following graduation, Dr. Traynor joined one of Toronto's leading optometry practices alongside Dr. Barbara Caffrey and Dr. Josh Josephson. There, he became deeply involved in contact lens research and development—an area that would shape his career for nearly two decades. During this time, he collaborated with leading contact lens manufacturers across Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom, contributing to the advancement of modern contact lens technology.

Today, Dr. Traynor's Oakville practice reflects the culmination of decades of experience. He is committed to providing comprehensive, personalized eye care for patients of all ages while continuing his passion for specialty contact lenses, low vision care, and carefully curated eyewear from around the world.
